The larger pony
classes were very well supported this year and with 33 entries (not that all of them were
present today) in the program, Class 97 promised a strong contest. . Mostly these
ponies were Riding Ponies and showed all of the quality that has been infused into the mix
of the Welsh, Arab and Thoroughbred ancestry - they are true 'mini dressage horses'.
I just loved watching their expressive and extravagant movement. The top 6 were outstanding and a testament to the dedication of the breeders
who have strived to bring Australian standard up to where we are now seen to have good
numbers of 'international' quality ponies.
Whilst I was not able to get a picture of every pony, I do
try to get as many as possible! I hope that my report will enable you to share the
highlights of the class.
The ponies were divided into two groups to work on the
circle. The first few pages are from the first workout on the circle - and then on
to the horses who were called in, for their final workout.
They line up and wait for the Judge's signal to enter the ring.
