Number 335 for Ireland is Fosbury ridden by Anna Merveldt-Steffen. This
15 yo gelding is by Foxtrot and the owner is listed as J. Hinneman. This horse is a
gorgeous type but at times he lacked 'throughness' and engagement. It was a very
nicely ridden test with no real mistakes. They scored 65.48% which gave them = 33rd.
position.
Number 310 - Davis Cup ridden by Nancy MacLachlan for Canada. Davis Cup
is a very appealing 17 yo Hanoverian gelding by Dannalz. He really seemed to know
his job and showed a willingness to oblige his rider. This harmony is nice to see
and would have been a big part of the score. There were some technical problems -
Davis Cup tended to creep forward in Piaffe. There were mistakes in the two times
changes but the canter pirouettes were nicely done. It was a very pleasing score of
65.48% and this gave them = 33rd place.
Number 375 was Problesk ridden by Iryna Lys from Belareus. No details
were given for this horse. Problesk is such a fine type and so very different from the
horse they followed - the Andalusian Guizo for Spain. Some tension spoilt this
horse's frame at times and he came above the bit. The quarters were swinging a
little in the Passage and the one times changes were a little too forward - I felt that
Iryna was lucky that no mistakes crept in. The canter pirouette right was well
centered and balanced to the left the pirouette was a little large. This was a high
score in my opinion - but again I will say that it is very hard to judge from the
sidelines only. 65.64% gave them a finishing position of 32nd.
Number 329 is Millennium ridden by Laura Richardson for Great Britain.
This horse did not always look agreeable and compliant - tail swishing spoilt the
harmony. Most of the Piaffe demonstrated good posture with legs well underneath and
carrying. The walk lacked regularity which is always costly. The 2 times
changes were nice but mistakes would have been costly in the ones. Laura put
together a pretty good performance and would have been well pleased with the result.
65.80% for 31st. placing.
Number 364 is Matias Jansson and Morell for Sweden. Ads you expect
Morell is a Swedish Warmblood - 11 years old and by the stallion Martini. Morell is
a beautifully elegant horse - easy on the eye. From my viewpoint the half passes
seemed to lack the soft bend and flow that brings about high marks. There was some
tension in the Piaffe and Passage, but there was also a lot to like about this test.
They scored 65.84% for a pleasing final placing of 30th which in in the top half.
