Equimec    Competition 10 -  Intertermediate 1  - Sunday 28th Oct. - Page 1
Sunday - the final day of the 2001 National Dressage Championships was a perfect day for riding and wsatching.  Not too hot or humid - as it had been earlier in the competition.   But still, some of the horses seemed a little tired and flat.  Again I will mention that I thought that the standard of competition is on the improve ...  and this class showed lots of promise for the future of Grand Prix Dressage in Australia.

The winner was Maurice Bruce on his beautiful mare Neversfeld Kudu with a percentage of 65.50.  She is Kassiber and our of a Thoroughbred mare Space Hostess.  Maurice rode Kudu very tactfully and correctly, it was a pleasure to watch and a well deserved win.

inter1bokt1.jpg (17355 bytes) First to go was Barrington Ock Tedi and Belinda Flynn.  Ock Tedi is a seasoned campaigner and he was very nicely ridden by Belinda.

Barrington Ock Tedi was bred in Tasmania by Lyn Kooistra and has some Percheron in his blood.   Young Sarah Kooistra rides Ock Tedi's younger sister.

inter1bokt2.jpg (17405 bytes) Barrington Ock Tedi and Belinda Flynn - they scored 56.70% and came in at 13th.
inter1monlander1.jpg (15361 bytes) Monlander and Neitah Norman travelled from Queensland to be part of the Nationals.

Her strong and very 'true to type' Monopol/Lander cross Holsteiner gelding, showed much talent but errors spoilt their chances for a placing.

psgmonlander2.jpg (15691 bytes) Monlander and Neitah Norman scored 51.65% and 19th position.
inter1octavius3.jpg (13090 bytes) Victorian combination Kate Boyes on her talented Cleveland Bay cross Octavius of Neika.  This horse was bred in Tasmania (Kate's home town) and is by Wethersby Barry Crump from the mare Whyoni.

Kate has had great success with this horse who is now very close to a start in Grand Prix.

inter1octavius4.jpg (13111 bytes) Kate spent a couple of years training with Mary Hanna, and is now working independently and based at the beautiful Hidden Valley Equestrian Centre.

Octavius of Neika and Kate scored 63.20% and came third - a great result from such a good field.

inter1iwon1.jpg (19945 bytes) The gorgeous imported Dutch Warmblood Iwan and Anne Barber.

Iwan spent some of his early times showjumping and is byGrand Prix stallion Chronos.

inter1iwon2.jpg (16668 bytes) Anne Barber and Iwan - they performed very well and her test had some really terrific moments.

They scored 60.30% for 7th place.

inter1kascade1.jpg (15354 bytes) Neversfelde Kascade and Amanda Crestani - when it was good it was very, very good and when it was bad it was .....   goes the rhyme and Kascade's test was the same.

This is a very talented horse - as you would expect being a full brother to the superstar - Neversfelde Kudu (who won this class)  but Kascade is as hot as ... and Amanda did a really good job with him.

inter1kascade2.jpg (14802 bytes) Neversfelde Kascade and Amanda Crestani - look at the quality and flow of this canter half pass, it was one of the best that I saw all day, but tension spoilt much of the other movements.

They would have been disappointed with the score!!
