The Intermediate 2 class - the first class at the 2001 National Dressage Championships continues ...

inter2centaur1.jpg (11966 bytes) Ann Serrao on her charming chestnut Centaur.  He is another talented and gorgeous Trakehner, this time by Copernicus and from Southfalk Fuverlilli.

This horse demonstrated 'schwung' and with this quality the trot work was very expressive.  There were some irregularity in the Piaffe/Passage work.

inter2centaur2.jpg (16112 bytes) Centaur put in a great performance and it was a pleasure to see such a big improvement since I first saw this horse twelve months ago.

He is only 10 and so has a great future.

Well done Ann - your score of 60.05% and 7th position was a fantastic effort.

inter2partyon1.jpg (13839 bytes) Victorian combination Samantha Bartlett and Party On ... by Irish Thoroughbred stallion, Prego from Kana Bell.

The test had some nice moments but there were technical problems in the canter pirouettes ... and the tempi changes were swinging.

inter2partyon2.jpg (19924 bytes) Sam has worked very hard to get this horse to FEI, and he has a great talent for Piaffe and Passage.  When he is relaxed these sequences are active and off the ground! Tension can spoil the quality ... and today some tension crept in.

All riders hope to be able to show their best without the weaknesses - Sam did not entirely get her wish today, and they scored 55.02%

inter2srb3.jpg (14142 bytes) After a concern in the trot-up where Snowy River Blackwood was asked to represent, Di Jenkyn brought her experience to bear and put in a fantastic effort in this test.

It was hard to fault this flowing and obedient test.  One little but costly error occurred into the first Piaffe, Blackwood though Di asked for halt, and halt he did!

They were soon back on track and the Piaffe/Passage sequences are very strong.

inter2srb5.jpg (16593 bytes) Snowy River Blackwood is by Sterling Liberty (Ludendorf X Faletin) and from the mare Deep River, who has some Percheron blood.

inter2srb4.jpg (18334 bytes) Snowy River Blackwood - it was a lovely test with well placed and balanced canter pirouettes, as can be seen in the picture left.

The tempi changes were very straight and correct.

For this quality of work the judges were happy to give the marks and they scored 64.04% for a win and the title

2001 National Intermediate 2 Champions.

inter2stilton.jpg (16647 bytes) Heath Ryan and GV Sterling Stilton did a truly great job - I spoke to many people over the weekend and the feeling was unanimous - Heath and GV Sterling Stilton are the BIG improvers!

Heath has been working closely with our wonderful 'secret weapon' Harry Boldt (maybe not so secret!!!)

Heath riding style seems to reflect that wonderful quality of 'less is more', and the result is a more fluent and pleasing test.

inter2stilton1.jpg (19109 bytes) GV Sterling Stilton was bed at the NSW Equestrian Centre and is by the Imported Durch stallion Salute from the mare Lieica Park.

He is owned by Peter Bunn - former 3 day event rider - and dad of short listed Olymp[ic event rider Olivia Bunn.

inter2stilton2.jpg (25670 bytes) GV Sterling Stilton so impressed with his extravagant movement and 'look at me' that the International Judge Dr. Dieter Schüle has him in first place.

Heath would have been well pleased with the result of 63.41% and second place - this combination will certainly be ones to watch!
