Both of the Novice tests were conducted today, one of
them on the main Olympic arena along side the Advanced 5E, and the other in the area which
would have been the warm up ring where the Olympic horses did their final work before
entering the main competition arena.
The quality of the horses which
finished in the top half of the field was truly outstanding. And these horses were
very well ridden. Matthew Dowsley took first and second place in both tests on
Claudia Harper's gorgeous imported mare Cinderella. The talented chestnut is by
Carbid from St Pr Wakondo. Matthew also took the award for the highest percentage
gained over the four days of competition for his Novice 2F ride on Cinderella with 74% - a
great result for a great ride.
Matthew's runner-up in both the
Novice classes was the Argentinus gelding Astonish - also owned by Claudia Harper.
Astonish is aptly named s this is what his movement does to you ...
Rotating the third and fourth
position in both tests was Maurie Bruce on his home bred frozen semen gelding -
Neversfelde Whistler. The horse is by the Hanoverian Wolkenstein ll from a
Holsteiner mare Neversfelde Raffles. Whistler is so pretty - he could be a Trakehner
- Maurie's 'traditional' choice of Warmblood!.
Pizarro ridden by Judy Dierks
was third and fourth along side Maurie Bruce and on points was third in the Championship.
Pizarra is a stunning, imported liver chestnut gelding by Prestige Pilot from
the mare Doresse. He is owned by S Latona.
Most of the horse that ended in
the top half of the field were of great quality and have the potential train on and
make the FEI stars of the future.
I was not able to see all of the
Novice tests due to the separate locations - the horses which are included in this report
are random selections. |
