This
competition went a very long way to bridge the cap between FEI, EFA, HRCAV, PCAV and
Junior Dressage riders as the very comprehensive program had a very full compliment of
classes for all enthusiasts. Most people believe that in order to grown and develop
the sport, the riders and a wider base of support for dressage, we must encourage,
cultivate and nurture the interest of our young riders. With the greater focus on junior dressage, there is bound to be more and better instruction available through Pony Clubs and perhaps some specific junior dressage clubs will spring up over the state to further assist in the development of this area of the sport. The Daronmont Young Rider Challenge which invited entries at Prix St Georges level and offers a trip to Aachen in Germany as first prize - is a great incentive to work hard all year in order to have an opportunity to compete in this prestigious event. This page features just some of the combinations which took part in some of the other specific events for juniors. I feel that the standard is improving all the time and it is good to see many young riders on very nice horses which have been purpose bred for dressage. Horses which are soft in the back and rhythmical in their paces are so much easier to ride and make any riders' job easier and more fulfilling. |

Above
- Winner of the Young Rider Novice Championship is Tiffany Joose on her TB Gelding Dutch
Marine - so called as Tiffany's family are originally from Holland. Dutch Marine was
bred for the Joose family and raced until 18 months ago when Tiffany took over the ride. He is almost blind in one eye and Tiffany must be sure not to ride him too close to other horses on the warm-up arena. She is to be commended on a job well done - Tiffany is a young dressage rider with a big future. |
