The PAL Superdogs -  by Berni Saunders

About the PAL Superdogs

This team of agile, extremely intelligent and obedient dogs has entertained audiences for over fifteen years and are the embodiment of healthy, happy canines, trained by some of Australia's most respected dog obedience experts.

The PEDIGREE Superdogs perform a number of entertaining routines, including Super Jumping which involves team members traversing a course of obstacles including hurdles, hoops and tunnels.  The dogs complete the circuit twice with the fastest round winning.  The PEDIGREE Superdogs commence training when they are around 12 months old,  and can regularly start to compete and perform at 18 months.

All the PEDIGREE Superdogs are family pets and work closely with their owners and trainers, who guide them throughout the show.  Each PEDIGREE Superdog has its own personality and favourite event.  Some are greater "show-offs" than others, and all dogs enjoy the enthusiasm of the crowd.

Breeds represented in the team include Border Collie, German Shepherd, Cairn Terrier Cross, Irish Red and White Setter, Australian Kelpie, Afghan, Standard Poodle, Dalmatian, Bearded Collie and Rottweiler.

The Saturday lunchtime entertainment was a great pleasure to all who watched the exciting and heart stopping PAL superdogs.  Their devotion to owners and willingness to please is very moving and their single minded desire to get it right is something we would love to observe in our horses.

I cannot give you any details - as their was no audible announcement introducing the dogs or the breeds.  While some of the breeding is quite obvious - not all were stamped with the characteristics of a recognisable pedigreed dog breed.  The one thing that they had in common was IMPULSION ... that every failing equestrian quality was her in abundance.

All of the dogs were given a cue from their person to line up and stay put - a great test of obedience and focus on the job at hand.  Even with all of the distractions the dogs stayed until given the command to come back to each of their owners.

A substantial male 'Standard Poodle'
He is a truly spectacular individual,  very well trained and
highly intelligent!  Poodles are one of only a few breeds that do not shed hair - what a perfect companion!!!
