Open Hack - Preliminary Round
Highlights - Page 1

The hacks at Hidden Valley for the 2003 Championships were positively awesome.  It would be difficult to imagine a better group of quality show horses - anywhere in the world.  While there were no notes to be read out in the Preliminary Round, the commentary that accompanied the presentation of the final ten confirmed that we were looking at well performed winners from the top shows in the country.

juliegittoes1.jpg (16043 bytes) Julie Gittoes from Holbrook in NSW officiated the judging of the hacks in their Preliminary round.

Julie looked so elegant and certainly complimented the elegance of the horses in her ring.

Caroline Wagner was the first out from the line up.  WS Black Label is just new to the Wagner stable and Caro has certainly clicked with the handsome black gelding.

He was purchased about 4 months ago in Queensland where he was having great success.

They worked as if they had been together for years - and it would be dificult to find a better presented, more eyecatching or better manner horse.

I wondered if the judge ageed with me or if it was my passion for 4 white sox taking over my judgement!

Well performed Titanic and Robyn Barry were next to go.  A striking horse with presence to burn
he worked nicely for his very experienced rider.
hppoise1.jpg (27461 bytes) Poise and Francesca Christie worked very well and went through with the top 10.

Michael Christie riding Stephen Merry's lovely brown Thoroughbred gelding Dashing.

This horse has been very successful and has worked well on all of the occasions that I have seen him.

He recently won the New Season Hack at VASA - so setting the scene for a very successful career in the show ring.

hfstateoccasion2.jpg (22301 bytes) Megan Bult on her lovey horse State Occasion.  I loved Megan's choice of jacket colour - I thought that it was different and complemented her attractive bay gelding nicely.

State Occasion is a striking big horse and he put in a foot perfect performance.
