Open Galloways - Preliminary Round
Highlights - Page 3

The galloways in the Preliminary round maintain their good quality - I would hate to have been the judge.  All of the judges appeared to be very thorough in their assessment and all horses were given the chance to do their best work.   It wool be difficult to imagine a more perfect venue, with a very large area away from distracting influences.

Sanlirra Spellbound and Dale Plumb would have been at very short odds if they were about to start in a race.  This very polished combination danced their way through the workout and made the pattern of movements look easy.  Such a refined galloway  ... and yet able to carry a man, without looking overmounted.
The next three horses entered the ring and worked on their own circle then individually.   I am not too sure if perhaps this class clashed with a riding class?  It is clear in the case of Francesca Christie - she had to get off Mahogany in order to take the ride on Mikani Jewell of the Realm.  The judges allowed for the timing and accepted these late horses  to the class.  They were No. 16, 114 and 133

Number 133 is Francesca Christie on the beautiful 'fronted' Mahogany.  This horse is all class and reminded me of the outstanding galloway of 'yesteryear' - Flying Hercules who was owned and shown with huge success by Mary Asimus.  The frame and posture of the forehand is perfect but the work needs just a little more polish.  The judge obviously felt that there was something missing as they did not get in to the final 10.

Number 16 - a lovely bay galloway and well ridden in this the preliminary round of judging.  I have not been able to find a reference to this number in the program or on the results sheets.  Congratulations on a job well done.

galsanlirrastatement.jpg (23649 bytes) Number 114 was Sanlirra Statement
an attractive chestnut with flaxen mane and tail.  He was nicely ridden and presented by
T. Young who managed a smooth and obedient workout.
