Open Galloways - Final Round
Highlights - Page 2
The top 10 Galloways were outstanding and there was a type
for every preference. The 'riding pony type' and the more 'old fashioned' heavier
type were represented. When watching a good horse you tend not to think about type
as "a good horse is ... a good horse"!
Michael
Christie and Highgrove Mitsouko need no introduction to horse show enthusiasts - they have
been very successful and I was looking forward to seeing them in action. This lovely
bay appeared to be a little 'jaded' - perhaps the effects of the very hot day were taking
their toll?
Francesca
Christie and Mikani Jewell of the Realm. Produced a mostly good routine - there were
a few rough spots in the canter - the hard ground did worry a few horses and I am sure
that this lovely Galloway would have preferred slightly softer going!
Shelley
Penny on her lovely Galloway mare Janpril Park Valentina. The mare looks perfect as
she makes her way to the lawn to work out for the Championship. Shelley has a very
busy weekend riding several horses and showing her range of horse clothing in the trade
area.
Mirinda
Height of Fashion bred and owned by Robyn and Peter Barry and ridden so nicely for them by
Briony Payne. Height of Fashion is know as Ollie and Briony must be commended for
doing such a good job on this 'fiery redhead'! Like all good horses Ollie showed a
good deal of spirit but his quality enabled him to take off the Championship.
Congratulations to all connections.
Sanlirra
Spellbound and Dale Plumb were last to work and as expected by those in the 'know' it
could have easily been the wining performance. Spellbound has it all - elegance,
movement, manners and perfect presentation. This combination were the Runner-up.
Congratulations.
