Western Victorian Dressage Club
FEI Twilight Challenge - 9/10th March 2002
at AEA Burong
580 Deans Marsh Rd. Winchelsea - Page 3
The Western Victorian Twilight Challenge was a very friendly competition
and because of the smaller numbers would not have been such a 'headache' to run. I
hope that some more of our regional clubs will take on board this idea.
Many of the Victorian clubs have
dropped their FEI classes, as they are financially difficult to conduct. FEI
riders are finding it increasing hard to gain the experience needed to compete
successfully at the larger competitions which cater for the higher grades. As it is
the goal of ALL rider to reach this level, I think it would be great to have each of the
regional clubs run an event such as this one.
From all of the competitors and
spectators, thankyou WVDC - and your hard working committee, also to Dirk and Sicca
Dijkstra for your hospitality and the use of your lovely property.
Sicca Dijkstra - a
fantastic organiser and thinks of everything.
Dirk Dihkstra was in
definate 'multi tasking mode' he played host, judged and was seen on his three wheeeled
motor bike keeping things in check on the property.
Our 'super scorer' Leon
Baggott has a very nice location for this computer - he was able to see all of the
competition from his desk in the AEA office.
Glen Gault - the
President of the Western Victorian Dressage Club - kept a close eye on the day to ensure
that all went to plan.
Merrilyn Hamilton-Smith
was part of the action all weekend and judged on both days.
She is the Victorian Selectors Chairperson - so I was delighted that
Avalanche worked well on this occasion.
Successful competitor
Julia Battams (right) talks with Sue Diamond who was a wonderful part of the help team.
Delightful Jamie Mita -
the daughter of Julia and her partner Kevin Mita offered some lovely moments with her cute
antics. (well done Julia and Kevin)
Julia Battams with her
proud equine partner
BWS Stolichnaya - they had a very successful competition.
