Equestrian Centre Wallgrove Road, Horsley Park. Thursday 25th. October, 2001
through to Sunday 28th October, 2001
Competition 14 - Grand Prix Kür (CDI-W) - Sat. 27th
Oct. - Page 4
The Saturday
evening Grand Prix Kür continues to a packed house...
Snowy River Blackwood and Di
Jenkyn chose a very appropriate number - "Anything you can do - I can do Better"
and her test was a clear indication that this challenge was on Di's mind ...
The trot music had a 'clunky'
definite beat, which really highlighted the horse's rhythm. For the canter Di chose
"Puttin' on the Ritz" and again it worked very well.
Blackwood showed such lightness in his canter work -
it was a pleasure to watch.
Snowy River Blackwood and Di
Jenkyn showed a wonderful degree of harmony and creativity in their Freestyle ride.
The came 3rd with a score of 68.65%
Rachael Sanna and Yardley
Aphrodite made an interesting choice of music to accompany their Freestyle ride.
Aphrodite is now a real 'international' horse with
much improvement in her self carriage and expression.
The music was a 'beaty'
collection of electronic ethnic sounds blended with acoustic overtones. It was a
performance that saw the horse, rider and music melt into each other - a seamless display
of artistry!
I thought that Aphrodite had
improved considerably in the past twelve months and the judges seemed to agree with this
idea.
In this Freestyle they
scored 69.48% and came second to Heath Ryan by just .30 of one percent.
Sue Hearn on her greatly
improved Manhattan. This is a very special horse, and Sue should be
congratulated on the great job that she has done with him
Sue chose steel guitar sounds, but for me there was
too much difference in the style of the trot music from that of the canter music - just a
personal preference - I like a uniform theme, without changes of style.
It was a very solid Grand Prix
Freestyle from this well performed NSW combination.
Manhattan is now very
comfortable with the difficult movements of the Grand Prix and they scored 64.48% for 5th
place.
