  Competition 12 - Grand Prix de Dressage  (CDI-W) - Friday   25th Oct. - Page 3

The action continues in ring 1A on the Grand Prix de Dressage.

gpaphrodite1.jpg (15467 bytes) Yardley Aphrodite and Rachael Sanna (nee Downs) prepare to enter the ring for their Grand Prix test.

Aphrodite has come such a long way from when I first saw her at an OAP clinic over 4 years ago.  She really looks the part now - so strong and secure in most of the work.

She will probably never be strong in the piaffe, but it now acceptable and the passage quite good.  The transitions are now there and Rachael told me later that she even got a few 6's for the piaffe.

gpaphrodite2.jpg (16549 bytes) Aphrodite is by Falkland Victory ll and she was bred at the Northern Warmblood Stud in Victoria.

The flying changes and canter pirouettes were very nice and it was a well deserved win for Rachael who is so focussed and well prepared.

Dr Deiter Schüle got out of the car and spoke to Rachael after her test - I wonder what he said ???

The scored 65.85% which put them in the winning position.

gptivoli1.jpg (19317 bytes) Tivoli and Carolyn Begg.  This is another young horse with a great future ahead of him.  He is just 8 years old (the youngest horse in this class) and he did a pretty good job.

He is a beautifully elegant gelding with a natural degree of self carriage and lightness.

Tivoli is by Abduell and from the mare False Hope.

gptivoli2.jpg (15288 bytes) Tivoli shows great talent for the piaffe but his test was not yet secure enough to earn the really big marks.

It was a great effort and score of 56.63% and 13th place.

gpbtaleet2.jpg (18821 bytes) Heath Ryan on the experienced Ludendorf horse Byalee Tomorrow.  He was bred by and is still owned by Anne-Marie Lourey.

This horse appears to give his best at all times and puts together a very solid Grand Prix test.

gpsbvyalee2.jpg (16527 bytes) Byalee Tomorrow is possibly overshadowed by his stablemate GV Stirling Stilton and yet this horse does a great job in his own right.

He scored 58.93% for an 11th place.

gpsrb1.jpg (17344 bytes) Di Jenkyn and her lovely Wamblood.Percheron/Thoroughbred gelding Snowy River Blackwood.

This test was well up to the best that I have seen him and just a little over 1% behind Rachael Sanna.  On another day perhps in the indoor arena, this test could well have gained an extra 2 - 3%.

Di is very experienced in getting the bst from her talented horse.

gpsrb2.jpg (17981 bytes) Blackwood is very good in all three paces and has a great talent for the piaffe/passage.

Look at his expression in the extended walk - it would be hard to fault.

gpsrb3.jpg (16749 bytes) Snowy River Blackwood demonstrates the balance and poise in the collected canter.  These qualities make the canter pirouettes a highlight of his work.

They scored 64.78% and moved into second position.
