A competition such as the Saddleworld/Winergy Victorian Dressage Festival has many keen and dedicated people behind the scenes to make it all happen.  The is a large and hardworking committee who spend many months throughout the year to ensure that the competition is run to the highest standards.  They always put the competitors and their horses above all else, a very close second are the sponsors and the traders who are involved with the trade village.  The costs of staging an event of this size are very high and the committee are constantly juggling the need to do things well with the need to consider the budget restraints that are imposed as a consequence of keeping fees and charges to a minimum.

This year the event saw the inclusion of classes for HRCAV members and also PCAV members.  This makes the 2003 Victorian Dressage Festival very special as it embraces all bodies which have an interest as well as EFA members who are catered for by their state branch.

Notable by their absence were Ricky McMillan and here wonderful horse Crisp and Rachael Sanna on Yardley Aphrodite - they were missed and we look forward to seeing them next year.

debbiemcnicol.jpg (8710 bytes)It was a great thrill to have judges of the calibre of Eric Lette from Sweden and Uwe Spenlen from Germany, Kathinka De Monchy from New Zealand and Australia's only Olympic judge Mary Seefried.   Joining them were other dedicated and experienced judges who worked tirelessly to give each competitor a fair assessment of their horse's training and execution of the movements required in their test.  The marks and remarks will be of great assistance in future training for those keen to learn from their experience and participation at this event.

One cannot underestimate the hard work of the EFA Dressage Chairperson Deborah McNicol.  She also acted as technical delegate of the competition and represented the major sponsor Daronmont Technologies.  Deb puts in an enormous effort for the sport and as a consequence has little time for herself.   Her job carries the responsibility of ensuring that the competition is run in acccordance with the FEI rules and guidelines - this requires a great deal of knowledge, skill and experience - we are very fortunate to have her involvement.

This competition has status as a Pacific League World Cup Qualifier and so has an international ranking with the FEI.  This means that horses which have nominated to be part of this event, will have a BCM ranking.
