The effort and
attention to detail that went into the Collingrove year 2000 open day was very obvious.
From the moment we arrived, there was a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere which was
greatly facilitated by the 'live' radio broadcast of the event. Speakers were placed
all around the grounds so everyone was part of the action. The day was sponsored by Emirates Airlines and two of their charming uniformed hostesses took part in the day. The uniform has been designed to feature the dress custom of the Emirates homeland, while keeping up with modern western dress trends and comfort. The girls made a real effort to mingle, and we enjoyed a chat with Leasa Gardiner, formerly from Queensland. Leasa has been with Emirates Airlines for 10 months of a three year contract. She predicts that the Airline will continue its rapid growth and soon will be covering all major International destinations. Collingrove sent out a warm welcome to most of the key breeders here in Victoria, and many well known faces were present in the crowd. The Master of Ceremonies for the day was the William Inglis' Victorian Manager and auctioneer extraordinaire, Peter Heagney, who kept things alive with his knowledgable commentary and friendly banter. A light brunch was served and many took the opportunity to walk around the fantastic Collingrove gardens, which were manicured to perfection. The grounds staff would have been complimented by most for the perfect presentation of lawns, trees and ornamentals, cascading down to the Goulburn River. More than one person commented on the co-operation between Collingrove and Chatswood stud, they timed the important activities of the day so as to allow visitors to attend both open days. So at approximately 12.30 the crowd dispersed and Collingrove resumed it's normal state of tranquillity.
