Robinson Winform Well surprise, surprise, the winner is Diatribe! At Winform we make extensive use
of the Winline GTS computer program to analyse form. To enable the use of graphs to
compare performances, we use a range of 10-70 which covers the majority of horse
performances.
Diatribe's winning performance at Caulfield sent him off
the chart to 91.9. We have never rated any horse higher! The only question for this proven
Moonee Valley galloper is whether or not he will handle the going as wet tracks are not
his favourite variety. In spite of this, he is exceptional at this course and distance and
will only need luck to figure at the finish.
Now I "hate" Tie The Knot. Maybe it is because he
was normally ridden by R.S. Dye and the price was always short. Whatever it was, it
doesn't apply for Saturday because his storming finish in the Epsom suggests he will at
least finish in the placings here and he can handle a wet track and the Valley.
Sunline doesn't rate. That may sound silly but it's a fact.
The highest rating we have for Sunline is about 60 something. This in spite of the fact
that she rated on top for last year's Cox Plate, which she won. Yes she can lead and
sprint at the finish and yes she can move the pace up and down and few horses can maintain
the tempo that she is capable of, yet here, this year, I have doubts and my money won't be
on her.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that Shogun Lodge will
surprise everybody and "handle" the going. We'll see. I.m looking forward to it. |
