The
final member of the Marlborough " assault team ", jockey Craig Durden arrived in
Japan yesterday, ready to put the finishing touches to the champions preparation for
the Pegasus Stakes at Nakayama on Saturday afternoon.
Durden will give Marlborough his first taste
of the testing, Japanese obstacles in a schooling session this morning, which will be
complemented by a further tryout on Thursday.
The outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease
throughout Europe has seen the fields for the dual invitation races reduced to the local
horses together with those from America plus Marlborough and Rand.
Whilst the majority of Marlboroughs
entourage will remain by his side following the Pegasus, Durden will return down under for
a week, before reuniting with the team early in the week preceding the Grand Jump. |
