Champion
jumper Marlborough was announced today as Australias representative in the $ 2.4
million Nakayama Grand Jump to take place in Japan on April 14.
The Jim Houlahan trained gelding was selected
by the Japan Racing Association ahead of reserve runners, Logician, Jarl, Vemante and
Kinglap.
He is likely to depart for Japan on March 12 ,
using the Pegasus Jump over 3350 metres on March 24 to familiarise himself with the
surroundings of the Nakayama circuit and fit him for the 4250 metres of the Grand Jump
following the mandatory seven day quarantine spell.
The Oceanic onslaught on the prestigious chase
will be completed by New Zealands entrant, the Mark Oulaghan trained Rand, unbeaten
at his only 5 jump starts to date - and the subject of a $ 250,000 sale to expatriate
Irishman, Liam Cosgrove recently with the view to continuing on from the Grand Jump to a
"grand plan" of completing his career in Ireland.
So stay tuned for a full report on these two
fine thoroughbreds in the weeks to come on the place where we " chase " all the
jumps racing news from locally and abroad and
......................................................GO
JUMP !!!!!!!!!!
