Moonee Valley 25/01/01 - Sunicrust Australia Stakes Meeting
On a steaming hot summer's
night, which saw both the horses and people sweating profusely, the Moonee Valley Racing
Club put on a very successful Group 1 Sunicrust Australia Stakes meeting. A big crowd of
over 17,000 ensured an early sell-out of racebooks, although they weren't able to have the
same effect on the beer supply.
The "big screen", in
use at all Melbourne courses, provides a great close-up view of the racing action and is
brilliant for night racing.
Surrounded by the main
grandstand, the mounting yard can be viewed in comfort by many patrons.
The "topiary horses"
are a cluster of cleverly sculpted bushes, clipped in the shape of horses and riders. A
backlit racing scene completes the picture.
