Meanwhile, Vinery Australia took a
special interest in the bidding duel that unfolded last week between John Magnier and
Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoums Shadwell Estate for a Danzig Alywow (Alydar) colt.
Magnier gave the second highest price ever for a yearling in Ireland at
select Orby Sale when he secured the colt for $IR2 million ($A4.1 million).
At Vinery Australias Scone base there resides none other than a
three-quarter sister to Magniers prized colt in Danzig mare Mysterious Sound.
She has a first foal by impeccably-bred Storm Bird horse Saithor and
she will go to Red Ransom this season.
Mysterious Sound is out of Sir Ivor mare Iva Reputation, the grand-dam
of Group One winning mare Alywow. She is from the family of emerging sire Dance Floor, the
sire of promising AJC Derby prospect Falls The Shadow.
