07/10/00 Widden Offers Star-Studded Breeze Up Draft
Widden Stud has an excellent record as
leading vendor at the Inglis Breeze Up Sale with speedy two-year-olds who rapidly open
their winning accounts, and this years draft will prove no exception with youngsters
representing the worlds hottest freshman sires as well as proven stallions Marscay,
Snippets and Marauding.
"Weve got a really nice mix of
two-year-olds by proven Australian sires like Zeditave and well-performed first crop sires
such as Honour and Glory and Hennessy, both of whom are chalking up plenty of winners in
the US at present," says Widden Stud marketing manager Antony Thompson.
"The Honour and Glory colt is
extremely well-balanced, very correct and an excellent mover."
Anabaa (USA) enjoyed a sensational
Australian start with classy filly Donna Natalia winning the Listed Gimcrack Stakes by six
lengths and last weekend his filly Amonita won the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac at
Longchamp.
Widdens draft includes a lovely
long-striding Anabaa colt from Outstanding Bid.
"He is a well-balanced, quality horse
with plenty of height and a stride to match. He is a half-brother to multiple stakes
winning South African filly Outstanding Star," says Thompson.
"We will also offer a filly by
Hennessy out of a full-sister to Golden Slipper winner Burst, from Group One placed mare
Sudden," he adds.
Widdens draft includes a Citidancer
colt whose dam is a half-sister to Anne Campbell, the dam of triple G1 winner Desert Wine
and dual G1 winner Menifee.
"The Rorys Jester Love At
Large filly from the family of Valour. She is a lovely mover in the classic mould of her
sire," says Thompson of the chestnut bred on the same cross as multiple stakes winner
Happy Giggle.
She is a full sister to Clarry
Conners promising three-year-old Inspire, who will make a late tilt at Melbourne
spring carnival riches after winning at Warwick Farm yesterday.
Snippets enjoyed a bumper 1999-2000 season
with stakes winners including Pins, Akhenaton, Camena, Actress and High Rolling, and
Widden will offer a well-grown Snippets colt from the family of AJC Oaks winner My
Brilliant Star.
Flying Spur has also made his mark with
four stakes winners to date and Widden will offer one of three Flying Spur horses
catalogued, a colt from Bletchingly mare Sovereign View, an unraced half sister to Group
One winner Ideal Planet by champion broodmare sire Bletchingly.
The 2000 Inglis Breeze Up Sale catalogue
also features an Anabaa filly from SAJC Oaks winner Heavenly Body, and a filly from stakes
placed Singles Bar, a half-sister to Snippets.
"The Breeze Up sale is an excellent
addition to our annual sales calendar and buyers obviously appreciate the opportunity to
witness their potential purchase gallop," says Thompson.
"The breeze up format is ideal for
buyers from Hong Kong and Singapore but it also appeals to a local bench that I believe
has found great value in some purchases."
