TEAC RISING
STARS APPRENTICE SERIES Bendigo-born Brett Gardner
used his home track knowledge to advantage to win yesterday's penultimate round of the
2001 TEAC Rising Stars series.
Gardner's mount As You Would came again after being headed
in the straight to win from Adrian Patterson's mount Sparring Partner with Lochi (Fabian
Villella) third.
Series leader Vincent Hall is ineligible to ride in the
final race of the series at Moonee Valley on July 28 because he has outridden his
metropolitan claim however with a lead of 32.5 points he is assured of winning the major
prize supplied by series sponsor TEAC.
