VEC Interschool Showjumping Competition - 10/08/01
This is the third Interschool Showjumping competition held by the VEC and we have had record entries. Each competitor must compete in all 3 classes - Showjumping, Jumping Equitation and Top Score Stakes, so the fastest horse is not necessarily the winner as they also have to impress the Jump Eq judge. Students may enter in teams of three or as individuals. The top six teams from each heat, and the winner of each of the agegroups (Under 10, 10 &u 12, 12 &u 14, 14 &u 16, 16 O over) are invited back to compete in the Finals on August 31. The VEC hold four Interschool competitions each year. The big one in February/March is for all students (secondary & primary) and involves flat riding & jumping, games & handymount. A primary (only) version of this is held in December. In May we have the Intervarsity version, and this most recent comp is confined to jumping only. All the competitions require skill in more than one field of equestrian endeavour, so are a great measure of children's mounts.
