Blundell holds lead to win Horse Trials The winner of the Santos 4-star class at the Adelaide International Horse Trials is Natalie Blundell, of New South Wales, riding Billy Bathgate, with 75 penalty points.Second was South Australian Tara Trebilcock, of Stirling, riding Lewis, with 95 penalty points. In third place was Sam Lyle, of New South Wales, riding Foxground Findara, on 105 points. In todays showjumping, Blundell lost two time penalty points but this was not enough to remove her overnight lead. Blundell established her leading position on Friday, the first day of the four-star competition, with a dressage score of 70 penalty points. Today, Trebilcock had a clear round and Lyle recorded one time penalty point. Steady drizzle made conditions unpleasant for competitors. Fourteen competitors completed the showjumping phase of the 4-star class, the first annual 4-star (Olympic standard) event to be held in Australia. The TAB 3-star competition was won by Prue Barrett, of New South Wales, riding Wendela Jackamin, with 74 penalty points. Second was Shane Rose, riding Kianga, also of New South Wales, with 102 points. |
