NSW rider leads dressage at Horse Trials The leader in the TAB 3-star class of the Adelaide International Horse Trials is Prue Barrett, of New South Wales, riding Wendela Jackamin.Competition in the dressage phase was held today at Victoria Park Racecourse, in the Adelaide parklands, this morning. Barrett, with 74 penalty points, holds a six point lead over Sammi McLeod, also of NSW, riding Frederick Hunter. In third place is Queensland rider Brett Cantle, riding Alchemy, on 81 points, just one point behind McLeod. British rider Ian Stark is in 4th place, riding Uptrend, with 83 points The leading South Australian rider is Tara Trebilcock of Stirling, riding Howards End, lying 14th with 103 penalty points, 29 behind the leader. Olympian Gillian Rolton, riding Endeavour, is in 22nd position with a score of 106. Fellow South Australian Olympian Wendy Schaeffer, riding Koyuna Sun-Glo is in 25th place with 110 penalty points. The leader after dressage, Prue Barrett, finished fourth in this years 3-star event in Melbourne. Todays competition was conducted in cloudy but fine conditions in the morning with light rain developing during the afternoon. The dressage for the Santos 4-star (Olympic standard) competitors will be judged tomorrow. The TAB Cross Country competition will be held on Saturday and the event will finish with the showjumping on Sunday. |
