Update from Warwick - 14th September

With only approx 20 horses requiring medication and the odd mild colic case, the horses at "Morgan Park Town" are on the mend!!

The buzz of when we can return to the saddle has begun, but we have been told it will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The horses will all be receiving blood tests on Wednesday, which will put them into two groups: positive and negative. All the horses will be blood tested again in ten days and those horses with two negative results will be able to leave, I am not completely sure but I gather with a travel permit???? All horses will have to pass two tests and be negative before they can leave Morgan Park.

Amy is still a little sore from her encounter with the stable, her legs are still pressure bandaged and we hose her twice daily to help reduce the swelling, she is really soaking up the attention too!

Milo is going well he still has a slight cough but seems not to be too troubled by it, Ge finished his antibiotics, and is very thankful of not having to be jabbed anymore!!

Zac is well, however his rug seems to be growing sideways....... too scared to look under, but I have a feeling he may require some work!!

More cases of swollen legs and kicking injuries are present as the horses turn boredom into aggression amongst themselves.

We have set up over 200 yards now so most of the horses get several hours a day out in the sun and playing with new friends along side of them, this is proving very exciting for both Amy and Milo as they have not had much interaction with other horses, Zac is just too interested in sleeping and eating to notice anyone else.

The more time we spend out here the more friends we make. Everyone out here has pulled together and it has become quite a little community. We stop to chat during our chores, swap horsey tips and people just seem to be busting to share their very scary eventing stories with me....I am not sure if they are all really brave or crazy?? I know that dressage is definitely the sport for me!!

The on-going daily activities are still being well attended and the touch football night saw some talent emerge..it was obvious that eventing was not the only sport people were involved in. I found it all a little too daunting so I cheered from the sideline. Tonight will host the "Morgan Park Town" One Day Series, not sure though that Ricky Ponting should be too worried about his record I saw a few people having a warm up and footy was obviously there primary game.

As the thought of going home gets closer, we have an enormous task of cleaning and spraying all our gear, and I don't just mean horse gear, everything must be scrubbed and sprayed and then bagged. Some people have begun already and I am not looking forward to starting, maybe if I ignore it, it will all go away...??

I must say my time out here is straining the love of my children and making them become very clingy, Jack always asks me, "Mummy, you coming back?" just about breaks my heart. Emily understands a little better but she too is missing mummy. I try to explain to them that Zac is in hospital and he will come home soon, that seems to be the only thing to help them understand.

I want to thank everyone out at "Morgan Park Town" for the way we are pulling together and keeping each other sane, it is great to see how when in crisis, people put aside their issues and are ready to lend a hand. I am having quite a moment it really is heart warming.

Hope everyone is keeping up the standards of quarantine and I am sure we can return to some normality soon (positive thinking). Thanks again to all the people who are sending their support!
